MAW on the Range & mods to barrel dovetails

Beautiful day here in the KCMO area -- sunny & warm, pushing 77* with a mild wind @ 16 mph.
THE RANGE. Shot at the MO Conservation outdoor range (Parma Woods) with the Henry .357 Magnum All Weather. With the rifle already sighted in, I was a happy camper shooting only off hand, standing. No bench rest needed.
THE AMMO. 40 rounds shot using Fiocchi 158gr JHPs and Freedom Munition 158gr XTP HPs. The Fiocchi is in the running for a deer-hunting round alongside side my BHA. Lastly, 10 rounds shot using a lighter cartridge, Fiocchi 142gr FMJTC --- just for fun. Total of 50 rounds today.
THE MOD. Since I put a SeeAll Mark-I Open sight on this rifle, I took off both front and rear iron sights. Just got the rifle back from a gunsmith. I had him install stainless steel flush dovetail fillers at both ends of the barrel. This mod has no impact on the sights or for operating/shooting the rifle. Mainly tried to make the MAW look a little more duded-up without iron sights. Plus those unfilled dovetails had some sharp edges. Here's the front dovetail filler; rear dovetail is the same (no pic).
THE HENRY. This is a fairly new rifle to me and I've only put 90 rounds through it now. It handled both chambering and ejecting very well today. What surprised me was how well the Fiocchi truncated cone bullets chambered...zip FTFs. That has been a past finicky cartridge for me. Overall range time was good with simple goal of learning to better handle this .357, and use the new sight, too. Got a better handle on my elevation the more I shot.
TARGETS. Plates are 9-inches, with different size triangles. The first three targets are shot with 158 grainers. The last target is the lighter 142-grainer. Better than chatting, the proof is in the target POIs.
POIs = 10/10 POIs = 12/15 POIs = 14/15 POIs = 9/10 The four plates ended up with 45/50 POIs in them.
It was fun to have some improvement along the way today.
Thanks for looking.
