Busy day down at the Black Branch Range....
Excellent weather and the plan was to bring out my Henry .44 Carbine for some target fun and also test some of my .45 Colt
black powder type loads using Alliant Black MZ.
The Ruger New Vaquero would be used for the .45 Colt test and also brought along my S&W 69 as a companion to the Henry.
Was very happy with my 6 shot group the Henry Carbine delivered on the 50 yd. target using the open sights!
The loads were my MB coated 240 SWC 44 Magnums loaded with 9.5 of Unique.
Video of testing the .45 Colt MZ loads.https://youtu.be/TRiCuES8bXk
The loads shot well and clean up was just a bit more than when shooting Unique BUT much cleaner than real black powder!
So had a great day and a nice picnic lunch down at the Black Branch Ranch!

Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

That is an excellent group at 50 with open sights, no doubt about it. Nice shooting.

Very well done at 50 yds. That's a real nice range, I'll be right over...

Thanks NCG ! My shooting form consist of sitting in that chair with left leg crossed and left arm resting on knee and hand supporting the fore grip.North Country Gal wrote:That is an excellent group at 50 with open sights, no doubt about it. Nice shooting.
Seems to work well for me on those longer shots.
