Got her semi dialed in!
Put 60 rounds down range today. fired 5, boresnake clean, 5 more repeat 2 more times. Adjusting the scope little by little. Use Remington core locked, Winchester and Hornady whitetail 150gr. She does not like the Remington or the Hornady ammo. Both were all over the paper at 60 yards. 5 to 6in groups. The Winchester 150gr softpoints is what worked best today. Have a look, granted its only 60yrds but the outdoor range is still closed for 2 more weeks for renovation.

Re: Got her semi dialed in!
since your rifle seems to prefer Winchester ammo, give their 150 gr ballistic silvertips a try .... they are outstanding performers in our our 30-30

Excellent POIs, Octogon.
Although you said it's "only 60 yards," point that .30-30 from that distance at the 8"-10" take-down region on a white tail deer, and you'll no doubt have your harvest.

If I had a 30-30 Id be tempted to try the barnes bullets also. They have shot real well in y hunting guns.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

.
Got some good POIs there for 60 yds! My .30-30 was so-so with Remington Core Lokt and Winchester Power Point, but really liked Federal Power Shok.

Oct, did you try the 170g. in the Rem and Hornady ? Reason being, 2 out 3 of my 30/30's do better with that grain weight.

No, only the 150gr. I like the velocity of the 150's better. Soon as I can get the Hornady FTX ballistic and Winchester silvertip I am gonna see if it shoots those well. Will let you guys and gals know.Slugnut wrote:Oct, did you try the 170g. in the Rem and Hornady ? Reason being, 2 out 3 of my 30/30's do better with that grain weight.
