BFR .45-70 water jug test...!

Post by fortyshooter » Sun Mar 03, 2019 4:28 pm

Yeah this was a BIG splash of water shooting the Hornady 325 gr. Flex Tip factory ammo out of my BFR revolver.
A real hand full when shooting so please excuse my use of the "D" word here and hope it doesn't exceed the "G" rating.

As you will see it totally destroyed my jug retaining setup!

Bullet recovered and the destruction!

Forty
I gotta ask 45-70 handgun was it the cool factor that was involved in the purchase? That has to be just pure punishment to shoot. Ive shot a 475 linebaugh before out of a Freedom Arms revolver and it was all I wanted. I cant imagine pulling the trigger on that one.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Of course it was!!
I owned it for several years and then sold it to buy my Uberti/Winchester 1885 High Wall .45-70 and I shoot that much much better!

Now before I bought my range property I used to go to the local Army Post shooting range that they would open to the public on Sundays.
I brought the hand cannon along and the RO said yeah you can shoot it even though that caliber is on the no shoot list.

When I would fire one off it would definitely create some attention!
Sometime later somebody spoke to a higher ranking officer and my BFR got banned from the range!!

fortyshooter, I'm real glad that I'm not one of your water jugs!

I've fired a Desert Eagle .50 .... once .... but that 45-70 makes it look like a .38.

If I recall that 325 Hornady round was going 1400 FPS out of my BFR according to my chrony!
It would also make 5 lb. cans of corn and concrete blocks disappear! :o
