Hot .45 Colt load test....

This was a SD load I tested using the Hornady 250 gr. XTP bullet and 20 gr. of Alliant 2400 powder.
This is one I carry in my Ruger Alaskan with 2.5 inch barrel and gives around 1100 FPS out of this revolver.

That's a stout round, for sure, FS, thanks for sharing. How far back were you standing when you took the shot? Pretty much exploded that first jug, not to mention a few boards off of your bench!

To think I was shooting some lighter 357 XTPs this week with 19.5 gr of A2400. No wonder my cylinders are "singed."

I was about 12 ft. away most likely. With the Ruger Alaskan you can load that .45 Colt right up there due to the .454 Casull capability of the Alaskan.
I think that load would be a good stopper and the recoil is very controllable.
