4" Combat Magnum - Classic Revolver Review

Post by Hrfunk » Mon Jan 14, 2019 8:39 am

Hi all! These videos are not about a Henry product, but I thought some of you might still enjoy them. The first one is my shop review of the classic 4" Combat Magnum, and the second is the live-fire range report. Let me know what you think!

HR, both are very good videos...that's what I think. :) But I'm also a person who really likes wheelguns.

Agreed on the barrel length. My Ruger SP101 "kit" revolver came with a 4.2" barrel, and provided good sight acquisition.
Appreciated the history of your actual police revolver in your first video. Sure was nice of your wife to lend it to you!

Second video. From my perspective, a .357 revolver's best cartridge is the .357 magnum. Your shooting was excellent. The one shot needed to drive that tack was perfect! Loved it.

BTW, both videos have comments climbing to the 100 mark, with many being very positive. You do good work, and thanks for sharing on the Henry Forum.

Great video on the Model 19 ! I have an old but still nice Model 66 no dash with 4 inch barrel and it is still a very nice shooter.
What I field carry a lot now days is a new M 69 with 4.25 barrel and with low to mid range .44 Magnum loads especially a 200 gr. XTP load that makes for a great package friendly to the hand!

Thanks guys! I'm glad you liked them. That .44 should make a dandy field revolver. I use my 4" 629 Mountain Gun for the same purpose. It's a great package with the old Skeeter Skelton load!

As another one of our revolver fans, here, enjoyed the vids very much. Thank you. The 357 mag is my main revolver cartridge. Shoot target with a couple of Dan Wesson 357s. On the rare occasions when I do carry in the woods, I pack a 3" Kimber K6s. Not exactly traditional styling, but great shooting gun.

My 44 mag revolver is purely a target gun, too. It's an early 90s vintage 629.

All our revolvers, though, are a drop in the bucket compared to all our Contenders. Currently shoot 17 different cartridges in a Contender pistol.

Thanks for sharing...great videos. Somewhat different, but my 686 L frame in 6" is my favorite revolver. Very accurate . Wouldn't mind having one of those as well though!

I have a 4" 686 and it is my "Go-To" revolver for general wheelgun applications. I made a video with it a few years ago, and I still get positive comments about it from time to time.

just curious, have you contrasted 4" barrels with 6" .... we have two 30 year old GP100 357's with 6" barrels that are our family favorites ...

Good question, would be interesting to hear some range results/comparisons.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......
