Second time in two years... BBB at the range

Post by CT_Shooter » Tue Jan 08, 2019 3:07 pm

The last time I fired my Big Boy was last February. The time before that was January 2017.

Today, I took it to the indoor range and shot 50 rounds of hand loads (13.9 gr of H110 and 158 gr. JHP ZERO bullets), off hand, standing, at 25 yards.

I had the range to myself and I absolutely enjoyed shooting again, though my back was aching the whole while and by the time I fired 25 rounds, my left arm started to shake and, before the final ten shots, it was like a willow in the wind. Regardless, I was not unhappy with the target, given my lack of recent experience, weak arms, and sore back. Two rounds were two inches off the paper, the rest are here to see.

I hope to do it again real soon to get better and build a bit of stamina, which I'm sure will follow. ;)

Third time is the charm, CT_Shooter…..yeah! :) Good job, and great POIs after such a long hiatus.
The willow in the wind will fade, and after looking at today's target, you'll be up to snuff before you know it.

Of course, the best is when you said you "absolutely enjoyed shooting again." So glad to hear that.

Take good care.

Yes, practice makes perfect. But, having fun is the main thing. Without fun, it more like work, and work is no fun. :( Where there is no fun, an end is sought. So, keep having fun, and your goal is in sight. No, I am not a poet. But, that is alright. I will keep practicing. :D

CT, I am so happy to hear you got out for some shooting. Really makes my day. Good for you.

As for the targets the others have said, if you had a good time, it's a good target. You're so right about stamina when it comes to offhand shooting, too. Takes a lot of shooting to build up the strength needed to shoot in that position for any length of time. Off to a good start, though, so get back out there and shoot some more. :)

Good target for offhand shooting. That BBB is a heavy rifle.

Glad to hear you got out. I know the 'willow arm weaving' well too.
Good hits on the target.
