New Years Day Jug Blasting

Post by tractortad » Wed Jan 02, 2019 11:41 am

The son and I thought we would start off 2019 with a little big bore plinking, so we filled some old gallon milk jugs with water, broke out the Henry BBS 44Mag Carbine and a Ruger Gunsite Scout in 450 Bushmaster and commenced to "blast in the New Year" on the home-made range. The Henry did a great job on those jugs, but those 450 BM rounds from the Ruger really made it rain downrange - loads of fun...

We usually shoot at 25 yds, but there are also stations at 50 and 100 yds that we can shoot from.

Would love to do some of that jug shooting, up here, but on New Year's day I'd be shooting ice filled jugs. :) Don't think the effect would be quite the same. Does look like a lot of fun, though.

Nice! Water jugs are some of my favorite things to shoot.

I like to put food color in the water so I can see from a distance as they drain when shooting small loads like .22.

Very nice set-up! Seeing that makes us suburbanites long for some acreage!
