Last Lead of 2018

Post by RanchRoper » Wed Dec 26, 2018 7:17 pm

Just a thought...anybody who shoots between now and Jan 1st can post their targets here. No judging, just put 'em up...the good, the bad or the ugly! Let's see some holes in paper or dents in frying pans....all calibers and pellets welcome. Maybe even Red Ryder will stop by... :)

Well, since you did mention pellets, here's one I shot, today, at 10 meters, indoors, with one of my favorite air rifles. Note the pellet to the right of the bull to provide some scale.

I took the Big Boy Brass 20” out today and decided to compare 3 different rounds. The groups aren’t great considering I was only shooting at 15 yards. In my defense, the sun was low at my 10 o’clock and the brass receiver and bead were glaringly bright. I shot one group of five rounds of each ammo per target. The left side was Hornady American Gunner 125gr XTP. The middle is Monarch (made by PPU) 158gr SJHP. The right side is Hornady Leverevolution 140gr FTX. The black sticker target is the same but I did not write on it. I don’t know what this proves at 15 yards other than I should have slowed down and taken my time. It was fun, though.

For some reason I used a six o’clock hold on this target. I normally cover the target with the bead.

deano, those are some very nice groups. That guns shows some real promise, even with the cheap PPU. I've actually had good luck with that ammo in some of my 357s.

Cool thread-of-lead goin' here! :)

For me, timing is off for any more range time in 2018. My last lead loosed in 2018 was on 12/18. I'm moving from my apartment to a house this weekend, and that's shut down any extra activities at the moment!

This is definitely a fun thread to keep an eye on. In my perspective, the Range Reports and hunting reports posted are the "bread & butter" of our Forum, and of members' interests in firearms. Thanks to all who are sharing their targets.

Ok, I stepped out on the back porch this morning and popped off these 5 shots.
Distance is about 45 yds., I bought 5 boxes of these a little while back because of price.
Usually shoot Hornady's 35 grainers, wanted to see how they would do, and this thread made for a good excuse.
