Hope you'll give us a range report on the two front sight blades Henry sends you. A shorter front sight will likely solve your problem. It's great to hear of good customer service.

Re: .45-70 H010CC sighting problem
Well, I received the two new front sights per Patrick from HRA. According to the packing slip, the 56B is the standard sight installed on the BB in .45Colt. The 50B they sent is installed from the factory on the .357's. Visually there was no discernible difference in height comparing the 58 ,which was on my .45-70, and the 56. The 50 however was noticeably shorter so that's the one I installed. After raising the rear sight insert again slightly and up a couple notches on the rear sight elevator, I could put my shots in the bull at 50 yards with a six o'clock hold shooting off the bench. Then at 100 yards resting rifle across the bed of the pickup , I was hitting a three pound coffee can pretty consistently. Plenty good enough for me for the open sight shooting and brush hunting I'll be doing with this gun. The ammo was Hornady Leverevolution 325 gr FTX and Federal Power Shok 300 gr. I also have shot a couple boxes of the HSM Cowboy Loads 405 gr. Real fun to shoot! The recoil on the Hornadys are perceivable stouter of course than the old standard loads but in this rifle still quite manageable. I haven't shot any of the 430 gr +P Bear loads yet and won't be making them a steady diet by any means but they should be manageable. I guess I have shot enough big bore magnum rifles that the recoil is not really bad at all. Out of the .45-70, felt recoil is like a big push not as quick , and sometimes violent!, as some of the modern caliber magnums. I am really enjoying the rifle now. Thanks to Patrick and all of the folks at Henry. They are first class.

Great outcome! So glad to hear it, but not really surprised. Need some pics of the whole set-up and some targets! Congrats on getting it straightened out.

Glad things worked out. I guess people make mistakes. I wonder if the test firing includes shooting at a target? Seems like a good QA check.

Re: .45-70 H010CC sighting problem
Thanks ESquared , and yes I have to get the picture posting figured out. I read JBar's explanation on a post on how to do so but we aren't connected to the internet out here so I do all my posting on my phone so I'm not able to download pics and send from a computer. Hopefully I can get something figured out.ESquared wrote:Great outcome! So glad to hear it, but not really surprised. Need some pics of the whole set-up and some targets! Re: .45-70 H010CC sighting problem
Yes sir it does. I assume all guns are test fired with a proof load but Patrick at HRA told me in an email that they didn't test fire their guns at a target for accuracy. They load the gun and run the ammo through the action to check function only. Those are his exact words. I was a bit surprised actually.GFK wrote:Glad things worked out. I guess people make mistakes.
