a while ago I got out my Bub-A-Salt rife to eliminate some carpenter bees and while loading it, the magazine cover broke .. .. devastation set in and I instant reaction was, per Hee Haw :

"gloom, despair, and agony on me
deep, dark depression
excessive misery"

after regaining the ability to think, I called Bug-A-Salt .... the wonderful lady I spoke with clearly understood .... she took my information and is sending a replacement free of charge .. :D .. what a company, the sky has parted and all is right with the world

;)

I have seen those and from your review looks like my next gun purchase. A lot of buzzing things around here that need blasting!

when we were growing up back in the late 40's, 50's and 60's, we didn't know what we didn't have .... we played outside as much as possible and have very good childhood memories ....

UPDATE :

when the replacement lid arrived, it came with very clear, simple directions .... yes, I read and followed them ..Cool

-Place the gun down with the safety side facing up .

-Take the smaller nail provided in the kit and insert the point of the nail into the pin slot. Gently tap the pin loose and pull it free from the hinge compartment.

well, the pin didn't move but the hing join on the salt container burst wide open .. .. in taking a close look at it, the reason was easy to determine .... the pin has a spline on the large end and its diameter tapers as its diameter shrinks all the way to the other end .... with the Salt Gun laying, safety side up, the larger spline end is up .... bottom line, somebody ooooops in writing the instructions .... it should have said safety side down .... that way the tap would be to the small diameter end which would push the pin out .... I called back out there and spoke with the same lady .... the phone went silent when I described the problem with the directions .... I asked her how hard would it be to install a new salt container .... her instant response was they don't even try at the factory and that she would have to speak with the fellows in charge .... after hanging up, total silence followed until a FedEx truck showed up today and delivered a new Bug-A-Salt rifle .... no note, no invoice, nothing but a new rifle .... I can't help but wonder if they've changed their directions ... ;)
