Finnwolf at 600 yards
Took my Sako Finnwolf to the 600 yrd range this morning.
Finished testing my Spear 100gr bullet loads. And diled in on the 600yrds 18 inch gongs.

I can't even see an object 18" round at 600 yds, let alone try to shoot at one. Admirable! You didn't say, but are you satisfied/overjoyed with the performance of the loads?

Re: Finnwolf at 600 yards
The Weaver T24 scope allows me to see the gongs.
This is a mixture of Sierra and Speer 100gr boattails shooting off my Rock Benchrest and rear bag.
Half the Sierra bullets I used a Lee factory crimp no crimp on the other.
I'm very happy so far.
I can now shoot some accuracy ladders and settle on a 100g bullet load.

Great shooting, Ojaileveraction!! I can't grasp that distance, but that's partly because I use only iron sights. But I'll bet that you could hear the "clang" on steel when you connected --- shooting steel targets is a blast!
My only long distance shooting was much, much shorter than yours. Targeted at and hit a 12" square steel target at 200 yards, and also shot at a 2' X 5" scrap board standing on end at 236 yards. I was standing, shooting off hand, trying to find the 12" target with a ghost ring rear sight and blade front, and put some POIs there with 1-oz slugs out of my 12-ga Benelli pump. A lot different than your shooting distance and firearm; but I think we both had a great time of it. I'd like to be able to shoot with the set up you used. Very cool!
Do you plan to extend that distance at all? What kind of distance with good results are you expecting out of your Finnwolf? I'd look forward to any more Range Reports from you with that kind of long-distance work. Thanks for the good post.

Wonderful report! That had to be a hoot hitting steel at that distance. I did 500 yards with a friend's rifle, once, but that was many, many years, back. All I can remember is that time between the shot and the hit. Seems like it took forever, but of course, it was still very quick.

Re: Finnwolf at 600 yards
PT7,
I"d be totally satisfied with that four shot 3 to 4 inch group just below center of the black target, to bad it was not shot consecutively.
There is a lot for me to learn before I will be able to squeeze out this rifles accuracy potential.

I enjoy shooting steel, reactive targets are the best. I enjoy a nice sub moa five shot group as much as anybody, but knocking them all down with one shot each is, for me, more exciting.
I spot for a fellow that shoots Long Range Black Powder Cartridge.
Calling his shots going 1300fps from the 500 meter line is an exercise in patience.

Did it for 10 years Ojail. Spotting is really important in BPCR. Still have the Shiloh 45-100 in the safe. Im with you on reactive targets they are the best. Hearing steel ring when you shoot BPCR at 900 to 1000 yds is a kick. Its something I did that I will never forget. Just dont have the time to devote to it anymore. Nice report. Al

Very impressive! You're playing a game with which few of us are familiar, but it sure is fun to read about it! Thanks for sharing.
