May 5th, 1860 Range Report
Gorgeous day with 72F and a 25 mph breeze. Had the range all to myself. My 1860 Henry in 45 Colt. New ammo today that I have not shot before. Fiocchi 250 gr LFN. LOVE IT. Man does it ever shoot good. Maybe even better than my Winchester favorite ammo. 2 targets today, 25 yds and 50 yds. I shoot off hand standing with open sights. The wind was a bit of a cross breeze so had to adjust a little.
First up, 25 yds Rapid Fire! Yeeeowww, hot barrel but lots of fun. Crank the lever and let 'er fly. 12 rounds and not too bad for an old guy. Next up, 50 yds and figuring out the wind. The remaining 38 rounds. But I am actually starting to get used to what my rifle will do and how the wind affects the lead, but as I said, this ammo was outstanding to shoot. The lead is very dark like it has a coating on it or something. But it goes bang and lands where I put it. Have to get some more of it! And last but not least, the cowboy's best friend, my Cimarron 1860 Henry:

nicely done (as usual) .... I'm curious, could you feel any difference in the recoil, sound or handling between firing Fiocchi and Winchester ..

Hmmm. Not sure. This ammo seemed to be easier to correct for wind. More speed maybe?

It would be interesting to know. I do know that 45 Colt out of my Henry is tough on wooden backboards!
There was splinters flying everywhere!
