Went to the range to test my new Dan Wesson 715 sight setup

Post by garryj » Thu May 03, 2018 6:51 am

I was reading North Country Gal's post on her range day with her new Dan Wesson 715 with the red dot and thought I would post my results with my new sight setup. I bought a front fiber optic sight from EWK and a Williams Firesight set for a Ruger GP 100 from Bud's Gunshop. It isn't advertised, but the rear sight from this set fits the small frame Dan Wesson revolvers. I didn’t have time to test more loads, but these targets are the best groups I got at the range today. These were shot with my Dan Wesson 715 .357 Magnum with the EWK fiber optic front sight and the Williams Firesight rear sight.

All targets were at 10 yards, 18 rounds each, offhand.

The top target is .38 Special, 130gr FMJ factory loaded target loads. The bottom target is .357 Magnum, 158gr FMJ under 15.8 gr of H110.

This gun does all of the work, I just point and pull the trigger.

That looks a lot better than just point and shoot. Obviously you have good skills with that pistol. Keep it up.

Perfect Range Report with those touching POIs!!!

Sharp-looking DW715. And you echoed NCG's assessment on the accuracy of this revolver.
Thanks for the good post.

Thanks for the tip on the sights. Will file that away for future reference if I opt to go back with irons and I just may do that. Excellent work with the Dan. Fine shooting. I know the feeling about the gun doing all the work. Sure feels like it with this gun.
