Winter flintlock fun

Post by RanchRoper » Sun Feb 25, 2024 4:02 pm

Haven't posted a report for a long time, I shoot every week, flintlock almost exclusively now. Should sell some other guns, they just don't get used.

50 yds off hand with the Pedersoli Frontier .50 cal
50 grains Schutzen 3F
.010 patch
.480 lead ball

I'll admit it took me 3 shots to get on this little target this morning, it was very windy. 39F & overcast, just shortly before it rained and then started to snow. The first 2 shots were right of the target about 2". Elevation was ok on all 3 shots. I recently had to reset my front sight, must have got bumped or something. It won't move again on me thanks to a little Loctite.

Anyhow, here ya go, the rest of the day was ringing steel targets at various distances from 50 to 150 yds. Our black powder club has a real nice range with steel gongs all over the place. :)

Shoot safe,

Nice. Im glad you didnt take to black powder to much. Was the range always there and you discovered it after getting involved with BP?

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Yes the range has been there for 40+ years. Black powder only, and tucked away in a river bottom with lots of private areas to camp.

Great to hear from you again RR! Your shooting skills are doing well I see! Early Spring around here but when it gets around 60-70 we get rainy afternoons my prime shooting times.

That sounds similar to ours. The one I belong to also has areas you can camp in tent or RV. Its also BP only range which is nice. Membership is only 60.00 a year. We have 25,50,75, and 100 yard ranges all with steel on them. Its about 30 min from the house but I really like the range.
