Range Report: Henry Long Barrel Frontier in .22WMR
I’ve been busy preparing for winter and don’t think I’ve shot in a couple of weeks. Part of the problem is my range is muddy and I can’t work on it and the targets that where in place are now covered in mud.
I want to set paper targets out when it’s dryer to see what this Long Barrel Frontier can do. I removed the rear barrel sight and installed a tang sight. It increased the sight radius from 18.5” to 29.75”. It’s far easier to aim and aim more accurate.
The front sight has been replaced with a globe and currently has a peep insert. These Winchesters aren’t the most popular round however I like them because they have a thicker rim. They lockup in my Henry the tightest of any round.
They are the most accurate round in my MaresLeg out to 50 yards. I don’t think the benefits of Remington V-tips come into play till 100 yards. I only shot at 50 yards and didn’t shoot any Remington today.

Love the way you have that Frontier set up and the way you finished it. Absolutely classic lever gun look.
Yeah, this has been a strange November, so far, with all this rain and thunder. Winter returns tomorrow, though.

Don’t look now but you have an African Lion skulking about.
Those Winchester 22 wmr’s grouped best when I had my Ruger 22wmr rimfire. Several ground squirrels were turned inside out by them.

I got it for free!
The erosion continues. There is a wheel barrel somewhere under that fallen dirt. I’m hoping even more slides as it will give me more room behind my targets next spring. I do wish I could set some targets up before the snow flies however that doesn’t look to promising this fall.

Actually, the snow is a bit late arriving this November. We've had snow on the ground for most of the deers season openers and that's only about a week away. Even rarer not to have snow on the ground by Thanksgiving and that's about two weeks away.

24 hours ago it was in the 60’s. It’s now 28F with snow forecast for Tuesday. By the end of next week it will be in the single digits and I’m told I might not see it above freezing till April.North Country Gal wrote: ↑Fri Nov 11, 2022 4:03 pmActually, the snow is a bit late arriving this November. This will be my first full winter in Wisconsin although I’m running away to Florida and Texas for 6 weeks in December and January. I arrived mid February and the coldest I saw it was -19F.
It’s not just the cold but the high winds. Sometimes the wind mph is higher than the temperature in F.

Here in mid Ohio we get the cold blowing down from the upper Great Lakes and the rain from the south. So it’s freeze thaw cycle until about the end of April.
