Range fun with the 1858 Remington revolver...

Post by fortyshooter » Tue Mar 30, 2021 9:53 pm

Took my Remington 1858 revolver out for some fun in the sun today 70F too! Using the 45 Colt conversion cylinder I was shooting a mix of 230 gr. Speer RN lead bullets loaded with Alliant Black MZ and also same Speer bullet with 5.5 gr. of Alliant Red Dot.

The Remmie wanted to shoot about 3 inches high from 15 yds and when I figured that out I could hit those steel beer bottles at will.!

After the video I went to work on that center Spade of the 9 of Spades card knowing where to hold with 5 shots fired at the Spade 3 in a ragged cluster. Not bad from 15 yds with one hand. The Remmie shoots very well when shooter finds the POI. Those 230 gr. 45 slugs made some mean looking holes in the steel drum lid too! :o The other smaller holes were from an earlier M1 Carbine shoot.

The video is in 2 parts thanks to the screwed up Go Pro program that will only upload about a 15 minute video in total length.
Anyway had some good fun with the Remington making some smoke too!

Great shooting especially once you figured it out. I really like your saloon setup.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Great job Forty. Fun to watch those Smokey loads. Sort of leaves you guessing the results until the smoke clears.

Glad you guys enjoyed watching the fun! May look for a better program to edit and load videos. Go Pro came with a much better program but after 3 yrs. they dropped it and now stuck with this one. Takes almost 2 hrs. to load up those videos to Youtube.

Planning to expand the target area to the left of the Saloon with a dirt or sand berm IF it stays dry enough long enough to get work done.
