My Personal Best

Post by Carver » Fri May 24, 2024 4:58 pm

I just got a Ruger Vaquero 45 ACP Birds Head used about a month ago. After trying to get a reload to work, I found one in the Lee manual, so today I took my revolver and my semi Dan Wesson out to my range and this was the results shooting the semi first about a box of reloads and then Shooting my Ruger. It’s the best I’ve ever done with either gun.

Great shooting and that type of accuracy out of a Dan Wesson 45 acp doesn't surprise me at all they are fine semi autos. I have shot one a time or two.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Great shooting with both! I once had a Ruger BH in 45 ACP and did okay with it. Haven't tried Red Dot in that caliber yet but it works very well in 45 Colt too!

Excellent shooting. Love offhand shooting, so I know what it requires. Yeah, DW 1911s are fine 1911s, but I've also had a Blackhawk convertible in 45 and loved shooting 45 auto in it.

Forty shooter The reason I used Red dot as I have a four pound can and wanted ro use it up. I find that it doesn’t meter as well as some of the other powders but it was cheap when I bought it for shotgun reloading.

I try and shoot about 4 or 5 times a week so I guess it’s paying off. I don’t go to shooting ranges as I have a severe hearing problem and am Bilateral implanted with Cochlear units. Needless to say I am deaf when I take them off so it’s best that I shoot by myself. Thank all of you for your comments

Nice shootin Carver, like forty, I've never tried the RD in 45 acp, but I do shoot quite a bit through the 45 Colts.
Mind if I ask about the load?
I have a BH convertible in 45.

Vaquero
The load that I found in the Lee manual
RD 4.0 to 4.5. Grains OAL 1.190. I found that the shorter length worked in my 45 ACP Vaquero and I have a lot of Red Dot.
