Some Ruger 45 fun after work is done.

Post by fortyshooter » Fri Apr 09, 2021 7:48 pm

Was at the range doing some work on my new berm and brought along the Ruger Bisley Blackhawk 45 Colt for some fun before going home.
I had recently installed a lighter hammer and trigger spring and haven't shot it since then.

Ammo was my 255 gr. LSWC bullets loaded over 9.5 gr. of Unique a nice stout load. All shots from 18 yds. standing and one hand.
I tend to start out with the shots going a bit right, shooting left handed you know, but the more I shoot and get into it they move more to center.

Those rounds do carry some thump when hitting the gong! Also really loving the electronic ear muffs my son gave me as I can hear the gong ring better
after the shot is fired. With the volume control set at low to mid level you can actually hear sounds around you better and then anything over 80 db gets muted down. When I would shoot the .45 Colt it sounded like it does on Gun Smoke TV show when Dillon would fire! :D

Great way to end the afternoon!

Nice shooting Matthew! Have you ever noticed in the opening gunfight and most gunfights Matt was in, his was the second shot? He was seldom the fastest but the other guy would miss and a split second later the marshal’s shot would be deadly.

Dillon had those special bullets that no matter where they hit you...you were dead! :D

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

That’s a fine looking target Forty and revolver to match. The load is stout and I’ll bet would work well in a rifle, but not a plinker in a revolver for me. You seem to be agreeable with it from the looks of that target. So don’t change what works for you. :D :D
