I recently picked up a Henry Big Boy Steel in 357 mag. I am super pleased with the Henry fit, finish and overall performance. Although I've been active in shooting sports my entire life, I've never owned a lever action rifle until earlier this year. 2 years ago I bought a Ruger Pistol Caliber Carbine to teach me grandson about shooting centerfire arms. I set up some steel plates and work with him on technique and safety. Watching him I realized the fun of shooting steel with a pistol caliber carbine, so I found a Marlin 1894 in 45 Colt for myself.

Three weeks ago I purchased the Henry and now I take both the Marlin and Henry to the range. Set up my steel and run through a lot of ammunition is a short time. Being retired I have the time to spend on my favorite hobbies which were a luxury all my life.

Riding motorcycles is another vice I have, that I can enjoy more now. Thats also how my username came about. 20 years ago I was president of our HOG chapter and my friends just referred to me as Headhog.

Regards,
Paul

Hey Paul. Welcome from Nebraska. Good choice for your Henry. I shoot the carbine version, and love it. I’ll be interested in hearing more about you and the youngin shooting. That PCC has my curiosity too.

Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

Glad you found the forum. It is great that you take the time to show your Grandson how to enjoy being a safe shooter. I have been a lever guy since my first gun, they seem to grow on you. Looking forward to seeing your 2 and your next one as well.
Welcome and post often.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I was planning to head out to the range today, but that was before is was handed my"honey do" list. So next week one day I'll put together a range report with some pictures. I don't like to go to the range over the weekend since it's fairly busy with trap and skeet shooters.
