Thinking about Henry Original 45 Colt
I am a Vietnam vet, Army Infantry, live in Houston, Texas. Enjoy reloading and riding my Harley when weather is good as I am picky in my old age.
I have wanted a Henry for years and go back and forth between a Big Boy carbine 357 and the Original 45 Colt. I currently load 357 and have nothing in 45 Colt so practical says go 357 but I keep being drawn to the original.
I am hoping to get some insight on what ammo the original likes for fun target shooting.

Re: Thinking about Henry Original 45 Colt
Hello & Welcome from W. TN., we have a member who has and shoots one on a regular basis.
Just look for the 1860 in the titles, in range reports.
I believe he loads his own mostly now.
I too would like to have one some day but something else always seems to get in the way.

Welcome to the forum from CT. Whichever you decide to get as your first Henry, you'll be happy with it. Many of us own and love the .357s and several of us enjoy the 45 Colt. You'll enjoy the company here. Lots of friendly folks. Let us know what you choose.

Re: Thinking about Henry Original 45 Colt
welcome indeed, delighted to have you join our forum .... we spend our winters in our camper in Texas and are scheduled to arrive back down there on Jan 7th ... one of our favorite areas is just north of Houston at Lake Conroe .... while there we try to get in some time at the Blackwood Gun Club with other members of this forum ===> http://henryrifleforums.com/viewtopic.p ... =blackwood ..... if you'd be interested in linking up, you'd be more than welcome to fire some Henry rifles .... I'll have my BBS 44 Mag and possibly others .... we do have many members who shoot 45's and 357's .... our BBS 357 is a fine rifle .... feel free to jump into ongoing conversations; as well as, to start others of your own

Welcome! You'll find.that folks here are friendly and always willing to answer any questions you may have. I have a BBB .45 Colt now that I enjoy. I've always wanted an Original but my eyesight is bad enough that I need some magnification help to see more.than 25 yards or so. Look in Range Reports as well as Reloading you'll find a good bit of info on hand loads for the .45 Colt.

Re: Thinking about Henry Original 45 Colt
Somehow I missed this post....welcome from Alberta. I am an avid 45 Colt shooter, my 1860 is a Uberti but only due to price of an HRA original. But both are beauties. You will have a piece of cool history in your hands. Not to mention your a daisy if you do....

Welcome and Thanks for your service. We have a member or two that has the original. Not sure what loads they are using and maybe they will chime in. I know one member lives up in NY and his is really a nice one. Great looking wood.
