Howdy from Cowtown!

Post by Zaphod » Thu Sep 19, 2019 5:14 pm

Hey, all!

My name's Tom, and I hail from Ft. Worth, Texas.

I'm the proud owner of three Henrys: two .45-70s (one brass H010B, one case hardened H010CC) and one .22 H001. The case hardened .45-70 is new and as yet unfired. The brass .45-70 makes beautiful big noises and beats me up. The little .22 is plain ol' fun; I have run hundreds of rounds through it and it just keeps on ticking.

The Henrys get a lot of attention at my local range because everyone is fixated on AR-15s, and there I am showing up with old-school iron. The tube loader is quite the curiosity as well.

My interest in Henry rifles is informed by two firearms owned by my father that I recall from way back in my childhood. One was a Stephens 1915 Favorite .22 single-shot with an octagonal barrel and a cool-looking coiled lever barrel break / bullet extractor. I still have that one. The other was a Marlin 30-30 lever action dating to the 1960s, I think. So: octagonal barrel, lever action. Therefore, Henry!

I have my eye on a Long Ranger in 6.5 Creedmoor and maybe a .410 shotgun just for the fun of it.

I have a number of other longarms and pistols, and the Henrys are among my favorites.

See y'all on the boards!

Welcome to the family. Jump right in and share, search the different forums, share your insights, and anecdotes. Share your pictures... We like pictures. Just like family, we'll treat you like a member of the group, laugh with you, laugh at you, and pick on you, but never in a mean spirited way. It's family.

Speaking of family, my son is out there, east of Dallas, and my middle daughter is just over the Texas/Ok line in Southern OK... She could throw a rock into TX. :D

See you on the range.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

Welcome from Michigan. Love lever guns. A Marlin 39A 22 lr was the first gun I bought and I have been getting more levers over the years including Henrys, they are very smooth. Glad you have joined the forum.
