New member and Henry owner
Hello everyone. New member here from the northeast corner of the Sunshine State and new Henry owner as of today. Just picked up a H001 22LR lever action from a local pawn shop. Haven't been able to shoot it yet but looking forward to it. It is used but in excellent condition, but there was no original paperwork or box with the rifle so I do know how old it is.
That leads me to the first of several questions I have that I hope fellow owners can help answer.
1. Is there an online resource where I can trace the serial number to the date of manufacture?
2. Has anyone installed the Hi-Viz front fiber optic front sight and has it improved your target acquisition?
3. I am considering a red dot reflex optic as an alternative the the fiber optic front. Has anyone tried this? What red dot did you install
and how did it work out?
Thanks in advance for any responses.

Welcome to the Forum from Michigan. There is a lot of information available from the members and I am sure someone who has used these optics will respond.

A simple call to Henry CS will give you that information.MTC(SS)USNret wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2019 2:36 pm1. Is there an online resource where I can trace the serial number to the date of manufacture?
I put one on my H001 and found it to be very helpful, though I can't actually say I've given "acquisition" any consideration. I only shoot at paper and take my time to aim, though rather quickly. I expect target acquisition in the field would be improved, too.MTC(SS)USNret wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2019 2:36 pm2. I only got here a day before you but Welcome from Indiana.
As for optics, I don't use them on a lever gun. Standard buckhorns or a good peep as from skinner are the way to go for me. Now on my tactical guns I use a variety of red dots, green dots, and an assortment of reflex sites but I use these for a different purpose than my levers. I also shoot them with both eyes open whereas for my lever guns I one eye everything. Shooting with both eyes open to increase field of view is the only thing I'm aware of to really increase target acquisition.

Thank you all for the welcome and opinions. I decided to order the HiViz front sight and give it a try.
