Redthies wrote:Welcome to the forum! What part of California are you in? .243 is a great deer and varmint cartridge. That said, give a read to the info below as it is a great article on coyote populations. The interesting part of it is, that the more coyotes you kill, the more the size of their litters increase, and you actually end up with a higher population in the end. Where I live, the wolf population is exploding and putting huge strains on deer and other ungulates. I personally don’t bother shooting random coyotes anymore, but if one was attacking one of my dogs or horses etc, I’d be making an exception to that rule in a hurry.

As was said before, if you are worried about the odd quality issue, you will have trouble with most firearm brands these days. At least Henry will bend over backwards to make you happy, and pretty much with a “no questions asked” type of service. If you aren’t happy, they will MAKE you happy!
Thanks to all for the warm welcome

Redthies, we are in SoCal, just east & up the hill from Palm Springs, Thanks for that article on coyotes, it is one that will be passed on to friends, we used to spend our winters out here but it seems winter and summer have somewhat combined and we are here pretty much full time, I never realized the extent of the coyote population here and the Cougar population is not far behind, given that, pets can take a beating, combine that with the non-hunting/ anti gun mentality and you have problems, we have 5 acres completely fenced, 6ft chain link with 3 strands of barbed wire on top, and they still get in, (under gates) Absolutely Love CA, but really question their politics. Living in MN and spending a great deal of time in the north I can appreciate the wolf problem. I am going to start shooting coyotes if for no other reason then to make them aware that man is an enemy and something to avoid, I kid you not, the coyotes here are loosing their fear of man, I walk my dogs and we have had some close encounters, Again thanksfor the welcome and the link. my best to you Den

Chech out Gun Geine. The Gallery of Gun sight. Look for a gun check out the address of the gun shops that make a bid. Those will be the guys willing to deal with the on line brokers.
