Hello again.

Post by Troutfly6971 » Thu Oct 04, 2018 8:48 pm

Just a re introduction here friends. I finally got my Henry out of lay a way. 44mag 16.5" octogon barrel with color case hardened receiver. Put a really cool Skinner dovetail mount sight on it and went to the range. Couldn't be happier. Was shooting bullseye 1" groups at 50 yards with one small sight adjustment. Tried a few different types of ammo. This thing loves Fusion 240 grain. I'm so torn. I'm 54 and have a lifetimes worth of guns and love them all. I've built 6 of them myself. My old deer rifle has been a Ruger #1 in .270 win. I guess if I'm in the fields it's the Ruger or one of my long range builds. If I hit the river bottom and Laurel thickets it's the Henry. Sorta like having several girlfriends. They all need a little attention. :D

first color case hardened 44 Mag I've seen .... that's nice, that's really nice .... no surprise in it giving you 1" groups at 50 yards .... looking forward to your continued range, use and hopefully hunting reports

Welcome back and CONGRATS! The CCH keeps calling my name, and yours is beautiful. Great shooting, too, so congrats on that. Federal Fusion is great ammo.

Keep us posted on your hunting season and best of luck!

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

That’s a beautiful Carbine! I am just about to mount the Skinner Express on my new BBS .357 Carbine. I usually hunt deer with a Ruger bolt gun in 7-08, and will play it like you are. Ruger for the 100 yard and up shots, and the Henry for the tight stuff. It’s good to have options.
