Hi from N Z

Post by John M » Mon Sep 17, 2018 7:19 pm

I think I found this site or the early one back in July 2014 when I got my H010. Loved the rifle but by Feb 2015 the mag tube had failed and at the bottom of the world a repair or replacement was not available at the time so accepted the refund.

That money was spent on the only 1895 22" Marlin the importer had in stock. It is all good except for the barrel condition and I never was able to get it to shoot cast bullets, copper jackets shoot fine.

18 months ago the LGS got in a Henry H010AW $1895.00. I looked at it every time I called in. Living in New Zealand I am conditioned to high prices but this was too much for me. Last week in a moment of weakness I asked how much for me to remove it from there gun rack to free up space for something they can shift. $1600.00 and it now lives at my place with a Leupold VX freedom 1.5-4x20 fitted.

Starting to shoot cast, with the 420 gr FP plain base at 1380 fps into 1.5" at 100 yds pushed by 35.5 gr AR2207 (H 4198) more load development may improve this.

Very happy so far. Photos are all stored on my computer and dont want to load on this site.

Welcome to the forum from CT and congratulations on your Henry. It's a great company; and this is a great forum for learning more about it and a little bit of everything else.

Yes been hunting all my life shot my first rabbit age 6 (60 yrs ago) single shot Lithgow .22.Still have it and all my kids learned to shoot with it. Most of my hunting is for deer of which there are 7 species and feral pigs NZ has no season or limits on hunting game animals.A hunting permit is free and obtained on line in minutes this can cover specific areas or the whole country. No permit needed for private land small animal hunting or game animals.

Hi John. Welcome to the forum What are the rules like for gun ownership in NZ? I’ve seen some video from hunts there and it looks amazing. I’ve worked with many kiwis, but I never really chatted hunting with them.
