New BB brass in 357, new member

Post by greenlaser » Tue May 29, 2018 12:13 am

Thought I would say hello here. My brother gave me a brass 357 carbine for my 62 birthday. It's my first ever lever gun and I'm still learning to shoot it.
He bought a 41 Mag carbine to match his S&W pistol so I got him a fancy wood stock upgrade. It's been a Henry kind of year around here. Guess I'm going to get some skinner sights for us. I've looked at many kinds of sights and tried a scope but Skinner sights seem to best fit the gun. Any pros or cons?

I's finally warming up here in central Montana so I've been doing more shooting. We had lots of practice last weekend until my brother blasted the chronograph (he used his 92FS). I kept the front plate as a souvenir. He bucked up and bought us a new one. It was a good day.

~Welcome~.jpg
Greetings from the Show-Me-State, Greenlaser!

What a special 62nd birthday gift....a .357 Magnum Henry Carbine. Congrats!! I just got the .357 BBS Carbine this month myself. I've found mine is a real straight-shooter, and very easy to handle. It's also quite "easy-on-the-eyes." ;) I'm positive you will enjoy yours. BTW, I've put a receiver-mounted Skinner Express on my Carbine, and it works well for me.

As JEBar noted, there is quite a lot of info on this caliber Henry rifle posted on our Forum. Just search for them and you'll have some good reads ahead!

Congratulations on your first Henry. That's a great rifle and I'm sure you're going to enjoy it. I put a Skinner Express on my own BBB .357 and it is a perfect match. Welcome to the forum.

The Skinner appears to be a good sight but don't rule out a Williams 336 for it. Considerably less money.

That is a Williams WGRS sight
The Williams 336 requires significant modification to fit the Brass Big Boy.

Thanks for the congrats guys. There is a lot of good reading on this site and I have been busy reading.

I am really interested interested in the Williams FP-336. None of these manufacturers give dimensions I need. Will this fit.
The last two holes on the scope base are 1/2 inch apart. Has anyone used this sight on H006. I would probably put on a globe front sight too. Yah he's one hellava bro. i'll try and post a pic of his fancy wood i got from Henry. It's nice.
