New member. From Florida

Post by BigBen » Mon Nov 20, 2017 3:20 pm

Hi all. My name is Dave. I live in St Pete, Fl. Just bought my first Henry yesterday. It's the basic H001, but I call it gorgeous. Just retired so I have more time for squirrel hunting with my new 22. Probably will just use it for small game and plinking. Am now searching for an inexpensive scope. Any suggestions?

Hey Ben, welcome to the family. Check out the scope and sight section for ideas on your scope. It seems the favorite is the old Weaver tube style. Good luck with your shooting and hunting.

Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

Welcome to the forum from CT, Dave, and congratulations on that new Henry. I put an inexpensive Simmons 4x scope on my H001 just after I bought it, but I'm strongly thinking of swapping it out for a Skinner Peep. Not that the Scope doesn't do the job -- it does --, but I have a Skinner Express on my Big Boy and really like it a lot.

Welcome to the forum. I love the old 7/8" tube Weavers but admit they aren't the most accurate. If you like the looks of the 1" tube go with a Nikon or similar.

Welcome from the Shenandoah Valley, VA. I'd recommend a Simmons 3-9X32 22 MAG rimfire for an inexpensive scope on a 22LR rifle. You can find them for about $50 at Midway or Optics Planet. We've got one on a Ruger bolt action 22LR and it works well...
