New to the forum not to Henry

Post by Handloader » Fri Dec 29, 2023 8:42 am

Howdy folks,
Not new to Henry rifles I have purchased a 45/70 2016 a 30/30 in 2018 and military commemorative 22 in 2018 wife bought as a gift. Henry rifles are the best I have ever owned. I have owned many other manufacturers rifles so I can say this without any doubt. I also own a .500 S&W in a carbine and revolver for hunting too if Henry had made one, I would purchase one from them. I have even written Henry to make one in a single shot but to no avail they were not interested. There is only one manufacturer today that makes a .500 carbine, and they are not cheap.

I spent 21 years serving in the USCG and retired in 95 and joined the USCG to beat the draft as my number was up. After leaving the USCG in 95 I worked for the State as a Facility manager then in 99 left and worked for a college as their energy manager and assistant plant director. In 2010 I left the college and went to private industry in the building automation and energy management field. Stayed there until I retired in 2020.

I have been hunting on my own since I was 8 years old. By passed the BB gun phase and went directly to a Savage 22 over a 410. At 12 I started trapping on my own for muskrats, fox, beaver, skunk mink and rabbit. I started learning from an old trapper at 8 years old. My first fur auction I made 1200 bucks at 12 years old. Also, was the paper boy for the town. At 15 started a real job working for a farm stand and lumber mill.

I have been reloading for many 40+ years for myself. Learned to reload back in the 70s from a gunner's mate who ran the armory. Started with 12 gauge, 30/06 and 45 APC then 5.62. Since retirement in 2020 now 69 I have taken up leather work. I have made everything from slings to holsters, coasters and civil war era stuff for reenactors. Also, have been a wood worker all my life and have built all our furniture, grandfather clocks, made some gun stocks, refinished gun stocks.

I'd be interested to see a pic of that carbine as I have a .500 S&W revolver as well.

Welcome from Eastern Washington state. There is a member here (Brokenolmarine) who also is a leather worker among many other talents who posts his work for us to enjoy. You two have lots in common. You will find his posts under the Hobby topic.

In the reply box select

* Full editor and preview
Then select
* Attachments
Then select
*Add files
When your file choices, pictures or gallery com up, select which you want. * Then select "open"
Watch the narrow blue box down below and wait for it to say:
* Place in line "
Select that and you should be good.
Hope I didn't leave out a step.
