Welcome to the forum from the Garden State of New Jersey. You never know...you may tempt some of us "repeating arms" guys to seriously investigate the single shot side of the family. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and your families.

Welcome to the family. Jump right in and feel free to post, share, ask questions. It truly is a family. Some might pick on you a little but it's all in good fun. Unlike some forums, we don't allow it in any other way... You know, just like a family. Post about anything and everything, within the rules, that is.
Guns, cars, shooting, fishing, your dog.... and Pics, we like pictures.

I know I do...

Welcome from Oklahoma.

For .30-30 Win., I do both.

I've had good luck with the Henry single shot as well as a pre-cross bar safety Glenfield 30A using W748 with Winchester cases, Winchester Silver-Tip 150 gr. bullets and Winchester primers. Unfortunately, my supply of the old Silver Tip bullets is starting to get low.

As far as factory ammo, both it and the Glenfield seem satisfied with Federal Power Shok 150 gr bullets. Not premium ammo but still, quality ammo.
Nice, for factory ammo I like Federal's blue box stuff, both their 150 & 170 gr group really well in the couple of 30-30s I've tried them in.
I also load my own, having had good results out of the Sierra and Speer pills.
Have loads with 3031 W748 and also BL-C 2.

Welcome from So-Cal. 30-30's are a fun rifle to have. I also load with 748, it's a good powder for the 30-30, along with 3031.

I have used only W748 in .30-30 reloads. I speculate there may be better powder but I won't change my ways. I won't let progress interfere with my habits.

I have used Hoppe's #9 bore solvent and Hoppe's #9 gun oil for probably 60 years. I must admit I have heard there are other bore solvents and gun oils on the market now but I don't believe it. Russian propaganda.
