Spring has sprung. Get out and shoot your Henry

Hello from Florida! Got my new Big Boy 45. Colt
Had issues with my Buckhorn rear sight in that it was lowered all the way down and I was hitting the target high. First time with a Buckhorn sight.
Contacted Henry and this was their response. Helped me and I hope it will help some of you as well.
If you check your rear-sight you will notice both the elevator slide (with the small ‘steps’) located under the rear sight tang, and also the white diamond insert tab in the buckhorn. There is a small screw in the right side of the buckhorn which can be loosened to allow the insert tab to move up and down to give you dual elevation adjustment capability. The rule-of-thumb for any rear-sight adjustment is that you move the sight in the direction you need the bullet impact to move. To shoot higher, raise the elevator; to shoot lower, lower the elevator.
First, use the elevator slide to get in the ballpark of elevation. Lift the tang slightly by the buckhorns and move the slide back or forth to raise or lower the sight. It can even be taken out altogether from under the rear-sight tang to lower it more. Then, you can move the insert-blade in the buckhorn for more adjustment. This should get you zeroed in for elevation.
This procedure is also covered in the Rifle Maintenance videos on our website: https://www.henryusa.com/henry-instruct ... eo-series/ . You can also use this video on You-Tube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6kY_nG3jLw.
Elevator Slide Increments
The rule-of-thumb for the elevator slide adjustments is that each step of the elevator slide will equal a vertical change of approximately 1 inch on the target at 25 yds.

Good morning, and welcome aboard.
The 45 colt is a favorite of mine, it's right up there with the 41's.

Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.
