Cheese Chips

Post by JEBar » Sat Feb 09, 2019 4:02 pm

after seeing a cookware commercial, my wife decided to make some cheese chips .... picture 1 shows one of her Copper Chef cookie sheets after making the chips .... roughly 1" blocks of cheddar and mozzarella were cut and placed on the cookie sheet .... no oil added .... turned our camper oven on 350 and cooked them until they were the consistency she was looking for .... pictures 2 and 3 show cheddar cheese baked in various sizes .... the last picture shows mozzarella .... must say, it sure smelled good while cooking .... this is a work in process and it turned out well .... we hope to use different cheeses and will refine the process as we go along .... we believe that using the cheese as a cracker and topping it with pepper jelly, cream cheese or such will be good

Yup! They look great to me! I love hot pepper jelly and cream cheese; putting them on a melted cheese "cracker" sounds like a great combination.

Try a well aged emmentaler, gouda or parm. A cast iron skillet works well for cheese crisps.

.
Didn't know anyone actually made these on purpose. I've made them by accident - unintended overflow from grilled cheese sandwiches and Nachos. :D

Yep, about a tablespoon of shredded Parmesan, a pinch of ground pepper and maybe some paprika, spaced out on parchment paper on a sheet pan, 8 mins or so at 400 F. Almost no clean-up at all, and very tasty.
