Post by JEBar » Sun Feb 03, 2019 10:46 pm

a while back Mags posted the following in a different thread :

"Instapot is also amazing.

we are looking for info on an Instant Pot similar to one in the link below .... we have heard some good reports on using them but have no personal experience .... as can be seen in the link, it comes highly recommended on Amazon

.
As you know the one we have is a lower end model, not all the features of the one you're asking about. Just the same we absolutely love it! The only down side we had was figuring out how to use it. Found the instructions a little confusing. Once we got it figured out we have no need for our other pressure cooker and crock pot.

based on using it earlier today, our 17+ year old crock pot is well past its prime .... the only pressure cooker we use is a big canner .... don't know how much we would use one for regular cooking .... one of our daughters-in-law has an Instant Pot and speaks highly of it .... it would be much cheaper to simply purchase another crock pot .... right now we are considering our options

My wife has one and loves it. We have done roast, chicken and meatloaf in ours. But one thing we really like it for is beans. I have a bean receipt that was found online for beans that you dont use any ham hocks in. I really like it. Nice thing about with that cooker those beans are done in 40 to 45 minutes.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Day and night difference between cooking in a crock pot and Instapot. Once you use an Instapot you'll wonder why you didn't get one sooner. This $100 dollar one is on sale for $80. Its the same model you were looking at but 6 qt instead of 8qt.

With all the grub I've seen you post pictures of, you/wife wanting an 8 quart wasn't unexpected. I think you both will like being able to cook frozen stuff right out of the freezer without having to thaw first.

we are prone to cook more than we need for a meal and eat the leftovers over the next days .... I wasn't aware of the straight from the freezer to the cooker ... how does that work :?:

Simplest answer, by following the instructions in the recipe booklet that comes with the pot. We've cooked frozen turkey thighs, breasts and whole chickens. Meat comes out so moist and yummy.

This explains the details and includes a video: https://ifoodreal.com/instant-pot-frozen-chicken/
