Ohio Sweet Corn
Ohio Sweet Corn
Had first corn of the year Sat. Neighbor across street has big garden. We usually have one, but not this year. Wife went to get a tomato and they had corn already !!
I help keep ground hogs and coon population down and get free veggies !!
No recipe needed just butter, salt, and gotta be Miracle Whip on BLT !! Ohio Sweet Corn is the bomb.

Looks great, the bi-color is my favorite too. Hope to pick some up from the Amish farm down the road, soon. We have some on the cob for meals and then cut some off the cob and put it in freezer bags to have later.

I didn't plant any this year at dad's place. I really like it just after you pick it, then cook it. MMmmmm.

Don't get any fresher, Wife went to get a tom [Smith's have a stand out front, for sale], had none out front so. She went back in garden and got some tomatoes and corn off the plants. Again our $$$ was no good there !! Old man Smith was grinning from ear to ear w/wife told him how many varmints Petey and I got so far !! Keep up the good work, he said.
FWIW, We have been putting shucked corn on a plate w/a little water, cover & nuke for about 1 min per ear, mix up about half way. No muss, no fuss,
Works great !!

we thoroughly enjoy corn on the cob and the method shown in this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzYtMeIFH8o has become our preferred way of preparing it

Re: Ohio Sweet Corn
Thanks, Jebar! That's a great technique. We'll be doing it that way from now on, too.
For years, we've been stripping off the outer leaves, peeling back the inner leaves, then carefully removing the silk, pulling the inner leaves up again, then wrapping the ear in a wet paper towel and a layer of waxed paper. Microwave for two minutes per ear.
This seems to be a much quicker, much easier, and a much better way to go.

Re: Ohio Sweet Corn
just be sure to wear protective gloves .... the steam coming out with the ear of corn will burn you .... if the husk seem to really be tight, cutting a shallow 3 - 4" slit down to the opening where the corn comes out can help

That's awesomeness. I bet it would work good for campfires and charcoal too !!JEBar wrote:we thoroughly enjoy corn on the cob and the method shown in this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzYtMeIFH8o has become our preferred way of preparing it
Instead of butter dripping off your elbow w/husk still on.
