I made a dozen, but I haven't tried any of them yet.
Well get out and give 'em a try and let me know how they shoot!
Lol, When I do I will let you know. ;)

Yea the 425 Grain Great Plains shot incredible out of my Renegade. The .58s similarly out of my 1863 Springfield.

They only make the .50 cal Great Plains now so I am thinking maybe casting again. Nothing serious - just enough for both rifles!

I've been shooting some 460 gr. Buffalo Bullets the past few years.
I down to just a few left, and am tired of lookin for them, and/or any other .54 stuff.
So I'm sure I will have to start over and work up the load.

But ain't nothing here but deer and some coyotes to shoot at.
And should clobber the doodo outa any of them.

I did some playing around with numbers for the 1000 lbs of pure lead you all purchased. I might be doing this incorrectly, but the results seem reasonable. 1000 lbs = 453,592 grams. One .490 RB is 177 grams. So I did the division resulting in a little more than 2550 cast RBs. Sound about right? I now have just over 300 RBs in stock to start out the next year, and will see how long it takes to shoot those. Anyway, I hope I got the estimated numbers close and don't end up too  ! Thanks for your comments.

Your maths sucks
7000 grains to a lb so 7 000 000 grains a .490 RB weighs 177 grains not grams it would be a touch over 39.5k round balls

Thanks, Everyone. Appreciate the interesting discussions about my inquiry. Also got similar responses of no issues with RB production from the members of the ML forum I'm on. And just this morning I heard from Hornady Support as I had sent them an inquiry. I wondered what they might say from their production records. Got back their official response:
Thanks for the inquiry. We have not ever had any recalls on any round balls to date so there should be no cause of concern. We appreciate your business.
Thank you <support@hornady.com>
Have a good day.
