244-Year-Old Rifle Stolen Decades Ago Is Returned to Museum

Post by CT_Shooter » Sat Nov 02, 2019 8:33 am

The beautiful, flintlock Kentucky Long Rifle, crafted by Johann Christian Oerter and that was taken from Valley Forge State Park in 1971, will go on display at the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

I doubt this will ever happen - even after 13 months of investigation as per the story.
It's probably been through more hands than a deck of cards in Vegas.
Winding up at a 'barn sale' pretty much sums up it's post theft history.
It's just lucky someone with knowledge of historical artifacts found it or it would have likely ended up over someones fireplace - or worse.

.
Would make the story even more interesting if they could trace it back.
