I believe lyman has an exact mold for this bullet!
Unfortunately the Lyman 'Plains' bullet mold is not the same as the Hornady 'Great Plains' bullets which are both hollow point and base.

Their hollow base Minie ball mold is actually closer to the design of the Great Plains bullet.

The Lee .54 cal hollow base improved bullet mold looks pretty attractive however and a LOT less than the Lyman mold.

I 'may' start casting again.

Having ones barrel to slick can work against you if you are shooting a TC black powder gun. I speak from experience. TC's rifling was very shallow. Having to much lube on a patch would not allow the patch to effectively grab the rifling when shooting round balls and the accuracy suffered.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......
