Spring Cleaning Remington New Model Army

Post by ruhler » Sat Apr 20, 2019 12:25 pm

Todays Spring cleaning, took some time to clean/run a few patches through my Original Remington New Model Army made in 1864. Sometimes I just take out my favorite gun without shooting it and just enjoy it, handle it and just let imagination run off for a while about its history :)

Have been saving up to invest in a Original Colt also but need to find the right one, I know I have to pay alot for it and maybe search for a while, it feels like good condition Remington is easier to find. Even though I had to search a while to find this revolver I wanted a good condition and want to be able to shoot it, also needed to stretch the budget a bit more than planned.

Nice on Ruhler, I also own a few replica BP Pistols.
Your '58 looks similar to mine.
An original Now that would be real COOL!

Took the '58 as backup this past Muzzle loader season.
It payed off also, as I missed with the Hawkins.
He just stood there like what was that.

Haven't changed the site, and the charge was around 29-30 grs bp, with a .451dia. round ball of 138 grs.
Distance was right at 50 yds.
Here's the Hawkins .50 cal. and the Renegade. 54 cal.

What's inhumane is keeping farm animals in little cages to keep the cost down so we can go ahead and waste half the food and think nothing of it.

Looking through the BP guns forum today, and found your pictures with a "slashed-through-404" notice --- pictures no longer in view. Thought you should know in case you want to get them on board again.
