Flint gun

Post by tx gunrunner » Fri Apr 08, 2016 10:20 pm

Here me 80 lbs lighter in 1990 with my smooth bore 69 cal Charleyville flint gun with front sight only . This target tied the world record set 1 week before and I shot this target it in Regional Championship and won 2 metals with this gun in that match .

Wish I could shoot like that. But I must admit my groups are half the size they were a couple years ago. Thanks to your coaching along with North Country Gal.

One trick in shooting flint BP gun is to hold the ft sight on the target a long time after it goes boom to let the bullet time to get out of the barrel ... Like shotguns you keep following the bird with the ft sight after you put the trigger . If you look at me in the pic you can see I'm still pointing the ft sight at the target a long time after it goes boom and the smoke is around me . I watch a lot of people in shooting all guns pull the trigger and lower the gun or relax there grip or hold to quickly .

North Country Gal drilled that into my head with airguns.
