I use 3 in the loop, 2 if wearing gloves.Cofisher wrote:RR, yup, you go with what works. I like that little finger extension on your lever. Do you use only 2 fingers in the loop?

Re: Levers
I have thought about it, but have not tried one yet. The standard level seems to have less movement for my fingers, making for a more fluid motion. But, I have nothing to compare my assumption to. However, I have thought about wrapping the lever on my Marlin. The edges are not as smooth (or rounded) as they are on my Henry's lever.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Re: Levers
I changed out mine on the 41, for one like comes on the carbines. I like it and think the larger lever just looks better. Just my opinion

Re: Levers
I have both and I like both. Can't tell you why, but the large loop seems to look more "at home" on the carbine-length Henrys; maybe that's just "catalogue bias," as that's the way Henry makes 'em.
So far, it's just not made enough difference to me to think about swapping out my regular levers for large loops. I've wrapped both versions with leather wraps and like that look and feel, but I've not done it to all of 'em. Don't know that it would look right on the Long Ranger, as it's more sleek and less "old West" to my eye. That's as close as I can get to taking a position.
Interesting thread, Mark, with interesting replies. VERY much a personal preference thing, huh? Except for us who don't seem to have a preference...

Re: Levers
Before I bought my BBS I handled one in the store and knew right away the I would prefer a larger loop. I also knew that on cooler days at the cabin, going up and down the mountain on my 4-wheeler, I would be wearing gloves. Also knew I would like to wrap it both for looks and comfort. Given all opinions so far, ( which I certainly respect ), it seems to be a toss up. Different strokes for different folks, as they say.
Glad my topic resulted in a lot of real pretty pics though!!...thanks for those!

Re: Levers
Was going to just add to my post, however, in doing so sometimes I hit something wrong and mess it up. I use a very sensitive 9" tablet with touch screen,
Anyway... as a novice with lever guns, my hand just seems to find the larger loop and obtain my hold easier and faster. I know after a lot more practice, that might become a non-issue.
