I use the Otis bore cleaning cable with the squeegee on the trailing end. Feeding the cable into the receiver chamber and out the muzzle.

Mags, just picked up a bore squeegee today in 357.
Question is; you say chamber and out the muzzle. Makes total sense. Do you run the rod through, and then attach the squeegee in the chamber area? Don't want to push crud into the receiver. Have never used one of these before.

Aaah, thanks Mags. Don`t have the cable. Will have to look for one. Seems it would be pretty hard, if not impossible to attach the squeegee on the end of a rod, while in the receiver. Not a lot of room to work with.

It's not difficult, a little cumbersome. Needle nose pliers to hold the squeegee. Do get yourself a cable, much less cumbersome.

Exactly what I was thinking. Needle nose pliers.
Thank you for confirming my thoughts. I will be looking for the cable though. In the mean time, might try the needle nose. The squeegee DOES make a lot of sense to me.
Thanks again Mags! Work smarter, not harder.
buddy!

I do mine with small needle nose pliers and my cleaning rod, hold the squeegee in place and turn the rod until snug. Does seem it would be easier with a cable. All my other guns except my bolt action .22 are cleaned with the barrel removed so rod works fine, and I just remove the bolt on the .22. Forgot about my Blackhawk but it has the cylinder removed so no problem there either.

Yes, see no problems with the revolvers, was just wondering about the long guns. Don`t want to remove the lever, ejector spring and bolt every time to push through from the breach.

For my rimfire rifles: Ballistol and Boresnake. 2 passes minimum.
For my center fire: Hopnes #9 and Boresnake. 2 passes minimum then Ballistol. BTW never shoot lead on a Centerfire rifle. scrubbing that $hit off will require serious Kano Kroil.

Thanks for your post.
With all due respect, how does one keep from sending lead through the barrel without going FMJ ammo?
Different situations require different loads, perhaps semi jacketed, cast etc.
Am I mis-understanding you?
Anyone else?

Mark,
It's my understanding that the exposed lead on jacketed soft point, jacketed hollow point, or semi-jacketed bullets doesn't make contact with the barrel as a cast or swagged lead bullet does and, therefore, doesn't introduce lead fouling to the barrel. Before he retired from the forum (for political reasons), TxGunrunner, a well-respected firearms expert, was adamant and outspoken about using both lead and jacketed bullets in the same firearm. I'm sure there are other opinions about this, but I've accepted his advice and only shoot jacketed bullets in my .357 BBB and SAA revolver.
