I received a Wheeler Gunsmithing Screwdriver Kit (72-Piece) for Christmas .... it seems to be a solid set .... my first planned use for it will be to reinstall the scope on our 44 Mag after we get it back from Henry .... our local gun store sells the same kit as shown in the link below for $5 less .... don't know that I'd of ever spent the money to buy a set like this but as a gift I'm sure happy to have it

in looking at the set, I bet I'll never use most of the bits .... not just most, the vast majority .... this is the first set of Hollow Ground bits I've owned .... just waiting for something to come loose so I can see how well they work .. ;)

Yes that is a great gift. They even give you a tool to change out trigger return springs on s&w revolvers.

used the Wheeler screwdriver bit for the first time today ... the task at hand was to reinstall a rifle scope on our 44 Mag that has just returned from Henry Warranty Service .... after working with "hollow ground" screwdriver bits for the first time, I can fully appreciate the difference between them and the cut of a standard flat screwdriver blade .... using them most certainly provides a more solid fit between the sides of the bit and the slot in the screw head .... I foresee them coming in very handy

Jim,
Maybe I'm a bit ignorant, but what is " Hollow Ground " I truly don't know the difference.

the screwdriver bit is shaped so that it fills the slot ...., standard grinds go in a "V" and cannot fit as snugly .... hence why they so often come out and mar the finish on the screw head or what ever it is in

Wasn't sure of the difference myself although I bought the smaller Weaver kit. Found this site which explains the difference.

Should be getting a set of Forster delivered tomorrow. I read a lot of reviews on Amazon and there were unhappy people with all of the options so I went with my gut and ordered the Forster set. I also ordered some Kano Kroil penetrating oil so that when I start working on a 1954 Marlin 39a I hopefully won't be breaking my new screwdrivers.
