Re: screwdrivers
I'm a little nervous to take my 1860 rifle action down for cleaning but will have to open it up sometime.

Re: screwdrivers
I'm hoping I can just loosen the 2 screws on the bottom near the elevator block, then take out 1 screw near the lever and slide the side plate off. I've read that the Uberti screws are notoriously soft metal, and tight beyond belief the first time they come out.

I use the grace 8 piece set on my H001 carbinelarry7293 wrote:What size of screwdriver should I use to remove the receiver of my henry H001 rifle? I am assuming I would want a hollow ground tip. Any suggestion on a particular brand to buy would be appreciated. I was thinking about grace screwdrivers but not sure which set to buy.
thanks

Re: screwdrivers
I picked up this set of parallel ground screwdrivers. So far, so good.

SJ those are jewelry! I love that type of handle on a screwdrivers. I've heard them called cabinet makers screwdrivers.
For anyone looking to work on their Henry's I highly suggest the Grace "Henry" tool kit on Henry's site. my son got me this set for Christmas and it is perfect for the job.

Re: screwdrivers
I was thinking about it. But, they were sold out last time I checked. I been having a hard time letting go the money when the ones I got for my Marlin seems to fit my Henry well. The one thing I may spring for is a tool set to adjust the rear sight. However, I waiting until I get my sighting concern resolved. For now, it seems to be a elevation issue or a me issue. I still in the process of eliminating me.Squatch wrote: For anyone looking to work on their Henry's I highly suggest the Grace "Henry" tool kit on Henry's site. my son got me this set for Christmas and it is perfect for the job.

Re: screwdrivers
Yes, they're mainly for woodworking BUT being parallel ground they don't slip out of the slot. I have a set of Weaver screwdrivers and these are much better. They don't have the smallest size but I can use my Kraus saxophone screwdrivers for them:

Re: screwdrivers
You can't really 'ask' what size screwdriver/bit will fit what. Screw slots can vary slightly from one to another and brand of gun. A Uberti tang screw slot for their 1860 can be different than the Henry 1860 tang screw slot. Always 'fit' test the screwdriver in the slot before removing or tightening the screw. Make sure it bottoms out in the slot with no slop or movement and is not too wide. In some cases loose bits are better in that you can use a smaller holder/handle for better 'feel' when removing or tightening a screw. What size of screwdriver should I use to remove the receiver of my henry
