the independent gun dealer we trade with has used a Weaver set like that for many years .... he installs scopes along with doing some gunsmithing and is perfectly content with themclovishound wrote:I picked up the basic Weaver set.

I think it was around $25 at my LGS. Some don't like the bits style, but the bits look well made and there are a lot of them of different sizes. I can find the right one for all my Henrys and other guns.
I got my buddy the Grace set a couple years ago. He likes them, but I was unimpressed with the machining.

Re: screwdrivers
Thanks all for the input. The weaver set certainly has a wide range of blade sizes to choose from and got good reviews from amazon customers. I also like the grace but am a bit confused on what to buy HG8 or HG7. Perhaps either grace set would work to remove the receiver cover on my H001. I contacted Henry this morning and they were no help at all except to say they are working on a kit that would contain the tools necessary to work on their rifles. On a henry video I watched on their website it looked like the gentleman in the video was using a grace screwdriver to break down and clean the H001 but the person I talked to at Henry could not provide any answers when I mentioned this to him. I emailed grace to see if they could offer any input but I did not get a reply back.

I have the Weaver and they work well for me. Also found a super deal on a Wheeler set.clovishound wrote:I picked up the basic Weaver set.

Never side by sided them, but they seem comparable.

larry7293 - I've got the Grace HG-8 set and a H001TLP. The N2 screwdriver (short stubby) in the HG-8 kit works perfectly for H001 Covers. I'd bet the Weaver kit would have a bit that fits well, too. If you have the $, look at the Brownells screwdriver sets with their lifetime warranty - I think they are the cadillac screw-drivers for firearms...

Re: screwdrivers
The Weaver set had what I needed to take apart both my H001 and my Big Boy steel. IIRC, I needed a couple different ones for the BB steel.tractortad wrote:larry7293 - I've got the Grace HG-8 set and a H001TLP. Re: screwdrivers
I use a Weaver Multi Bit kit. It has just about all of the slotted screwdriver bits that I'm ever likely to need, as well as torque and hex bits and a few special bits as well.

Nice set, Les. Similar to the Weaver I got.
BTW, if anyone is looking for a real compact set, maybe to throw in a range bag, this is handy, high quality, and delivered to your store free

Re: screwdrivers
good to see the "high quality" comment .... over the years I've bought several cheaper sets where the bits were way too soft .... they would bend/warp and quickly become unusableHenry88 wrote:Nice set, Les. Similar to the Weaver I got.

Re: screwdrivers
This is my bit set, made by Car Tool. I got them as a major award from
Chrysler so I'm not sure where to find them, but they work great and not much you can't fit
with these. I've lost a couple and replaced with Snap On

Will the N2 screwdriver also remove the tang screw that I need to remove to pull the stock off in order to clean the barrel? It is not as wide as the four screws on the receiver.
