Scope is to high
Scope is to high
I just mounted a scope on my Goldenboy 22 mag. I used low rings and my cheek is about 2 inches above the stock in order to see through the scope. It seems the cantilever mount is quite high or the drop in the stock is more than I realized . I assume my only alternative is to invest in a raised cheek piece the type that ties onto the stock. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I had the same issue with my BBSC. Bought a cheek riser and all is good. Good ones will run $75 and up, but you can get ok ones for $25 or so from Amazon. Or you can go old school with styrofoam and duck tape.

Bellum Omnium Contra Omnes is rapidly becoming a reality (11/2023). Para Bellum.
Re: Scope is to high
Its the reason I dont own a Golden Boy in 22 or 22 mag. The drop on that stock is already to much for me to even align with the iron sights on that particular model. I cannot get a good cheek weld on that gun at all.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

The Goldenboy and Classic stocks are not interchangeable.

I found the same issue when looking at a brass receiver single shot. Those stocks replicate the style from the era of the original Henry rifles, when the posture of shooters was much different, with the head erect and face farther back. Maybe from the days of avoiding sparks from flintlock ignition? Anyway, they don't work for me, either

Re: Scope is to high
I just scoped my Big Boy .22WMR today using the lowest rings that I could find (Warne 500M) and the height isn't too bad...but.
Short term, I'm going to look for a good leather cheek riser (suggestions welcome!) and long term, I have another stock on order
that I'll add a comb to...about 1 1/4". I want to keep the original stock intact.
I used a Bushnell scope and was quite pleased with the outcome. Range tomorrow!

Re: Scope is to high
most interesting scope mount .... it should work OK on a low recoil rifle .... looking forward to your range reports and use observations
