Scoped Them Both

Post by krunchnik » Fri Jan 24, 2020 8:17 pm

So I don't know how this is going to work out-I mounted a scope on both of my BBB in .357 Mag and my .41Mag Carbine.
I am hoping that they will be a little more shootable-60 year old eyes and peep or buckhorn sights are just not working.
I have a Nikon Pro Staff fixed 4 on the .357 and a Burris old 1 3/4x5 variable on the .41.
So if any of the Henry experts can give me an unadulterated opinion I would be Thankful.

Good choice, going with low power scopes on lever guns. Very traditional way to scope a lever gun and, yes, a lot of folks using lever guns for deer hunting up here, do scope them.

.
Is the eye piece of the scope on the carbine going to smack you in the eye socket when you shoot?
With the 60 year old eyes you describe, they should be more accurate for you.

I put a Weaver Classic 1-3x20mm on my .357 BB brass and a Leupold FX-1 2-7x33mm on my .45 Colt Henry, BB steel. They help a ton with my eyesight.
Just a note; have you shot the top one yet? I ask, because it looks like it might be mounted a bit further back than you want. But, you will like 'em.

Yup-the .41 Mag is mounted where the eye relief is proper-it looks kinda weird but it is actually in line with the .357-just doesn't look right.
When I lay them down and hold one over the other they are both in the same rearward position.
The Burris is about 40 years old and the adjustment tower is way forward-seems kinda odd.
