My Talley BB 357AW Scope Mount Came In Today

Post by TN Mark » Tue Aug 27, 2019 12:41 am

The Talley one piece base and rings came in today from HenryPride for my BB AW 357. So, now the search gets serious for a scope.

I have a Redfield scope on one of my other Henry's and love it. I was wondering if the Redfield Revolution 3-9x40 rifle scope with the Accu-Range reticle would fit on my BB AW 357 with the Talley mount.

Another scope option I saw is the Leupold VX-3i 2.5-8x36 but this one has the Duplex reticle and I really like the Accu-Range reticle.

The third option I was looking at would be the Leupold VX-Freedom 1.5-4 x 20mm Riflescope. This one also has the Duplex reticle and I'm sure fitting it on the Talley mount would be easy.

Any help you can offer will be appreciated. Yes, I know, some of you cringe at the idea of a scope on a lever action rifle.

as with most options, the best choice is the one that you feel serves you best .... as a general rule, for hundred yard rifles, I like a 3X9 .... the lower powers offer a wide view and the upper powers allow you to zero in on your target ....

I can personally vouch for the VX Freedom 1.5-4X20. Seems like the right scope for the effective range of the rifle, seems in proportion, size-wise and it was a breeze to mount and sight in.

Here it is, in the picture that launched the Pink Range Towel phenomenon.

I went with a 1-3x20 Weaver on my 357. Have not had a chance to use it much yet, but I think I'm going to grow to like it.
What I really like is the Talley one piece mount. No lapping required! Matter of fact, lapping even voids the warranty.
Good luck with your scope choice. I went low because of effective caliber range as previously mentioned, but whatever looks good to YOU, is the right choice.
Don't forget the hammer extension.

I really like the Talley mounts. Have one on my hunting rifle 338 win mag. All one piece makes it easy to mount and there well made. Need a pic when you get it installed.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

.
My Long Ranger is scoped with Leupold 3.5-10x40mm. For my eyes, good out to about 135yds. Will be good to see what you decide on.
