Burris mini 4X, Medium rings and Hammer Spurs

Post by Yornoc3 » Sun Jun 30, 2019 8:50 pm

I thought I had assembled the perfect set up for my .22 LR Frontier - until I put it together. I have an older Burris compact 4X scope on hand, gloss finish, along with Burris gloss medium height 3/8 dovetail rimfire rings, and an Uncle Mikes hammer spur indicated to fit Henry rimfire rifles. But the short length and longer eye relief of the Burris scope, coupled with the height above the hammer of Uncle mikes hammer spur, made it a no go. Those might work with a longer scope with less eye relief, or with higher rings than I like, but not here. So a quick E-mail to Henry Pride produced a Carlson's "Henry" rimfire hammer spur, which does fit, but just barely clears the scope's forward part of the ocular assembly. Take this as a cautionary note about using that particular scope and medium rings; it's kinda fussy. And if anyone wants an Uncle Mikes Hammer Spur, I'll send one to ya ;) .
