Modified Henry scope mount to allow iron usage

Post by Omegaspeedy » Fri Nov 16, 2018 9:08 pm

Hi folks,

Just thought I'd share a little mod I carried out on my Henry scope mount to allow use of the irons as well as the scope if you utilise quick detach scope rings. I machined a slot in my scope mount with a little fine slot at the end to keep it looking neat and tidy.

Works well and means I don't have to remove my mount if I feel like shooting irons. All I do is undo the QD rings and I'm away.

I finished it with a lick of industrial paint.

Will get out on Wed and will report back. I used open sights during my original range report and boy they're fun. My eyes struggled a little bit out to distance though but I reckon once you get to know your gun well, you can do good with it.

Good job. I bought one with the same type groove. I run both a scope and red dot. I also like iron sights at times so this works perfect.

Mags, Good find! Its amazing how I search for gun parts for sometimes hours and know the part i want is out there. But it doesnt show up. I think web search engines are tuned not to give you gun part results.

I think web search engines don't work quite right unless you give them just the right amount of information. Either too little or too many words can spit gazillions of useless, meaningless results. I got lucky with "scope mount for henry h006". Got a lot of finds. Then just browsing through them to find ones with top slot down the middle.

I don't think the one at diproductsinc.com will fit a BBB, the one at egw says it will fit a BBB (H006 Henry Big Boy Gen 2). Out of stock so I signed up for notification when it's back in stock. I have the scope mount from Henry for the BBB but don't have the tools (or skills) to modify it.
