Vortex Crossfire II 2-7X32

Post by ESquared » Mon Oct 08, 2018 10:59 pm

Scoping out scopes can sometimes be a never ending saga. Finding one that looks good on a Henry makes it even more fun and challenging.

Has anyone used or heard anything about this Crossfire II, in 2-7X32?

http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/cro ... le/reticle

Seems like it's pretty solid and gets lots of kudos on Amazon:

Almost seems too good to be true at that price.

Anybody have first-hand experience?

ESquared,

I actually have no business posting in the "Scopes" forum area. I've only owned one scope, which I had mounted on a Henry BBB .357 Magnum. Of course, it would have worked on a rimfire also. It was a Weaver 4.5V model (1.5-4.5 X 20) 1" scope.

My comments and the following two links on the Weaver Optics web site address what you said: "Finding one that looks good on a Henry makes it even more fun and challenging." So the main thing from my perspective is that I think this Weaver Classic scope configuration is really cool-looking 8-), and does compliment a Henry. Here are a couple of examples of these classics:

http://www.weaveroptics.com/optics/rifl ... classic_k/

Yes, the prices are higher, mainly because listed at full MSRP on the Weaver pages. I know for sure you'd find them elsewhere at a much better price.

Have fun with your "never-ending saga."

ESquared,

i dont own one but have been looking myself, i know a few gents that have Vortex optics and speak very highly of them. im goin to put one on a rimfire soon

i got the chance yesterday to hit a cpl big box places in tulsa looking at rifles and such and got to look thru a few scopes
the vortex crossfire is nice scope but look thru there diamondback series, pricier but noticeable clearer, but then i also picked up a leupold and was even nicer, the crossfire was 140 ish the diamondback 190 and leupols 210,

not cheap but all nice

Vortex has a no questioned asked warrenty, as good as henry, and if you go thru one of their participating dealers they give vets a 40 % discount off msrp

Thanks, B, I'd looked at Weavers briefly along the way, and now that you bring them up again, I did some digging to try to get to an apples-to-apples with the Vortex I found.

The two examples to which you posted links are indeed very classic looking, which is a big plus. The two you found are fixed vs. zoom, and the objective bell is slightly larger than the Vortex (hence, apples-vs.-oranges).

HOWEVER, through the magic of Amazon, I found this:

https://www.amazon.com/Weaver-Rimfire-2 ... dpSrc=srch

Which, very interestingly, is almost exactly the same price and has the same zoom-able feature. Will dig further to see if it belongs on the short list.

Thanks for the referral. The Bushnell factory outlet store here in town is bursting with goodies, including Weavers. May have to make a trip!

Should have dug further. That Amazon listing above is a rimfire only model.

Keep on digging.

I don't know why I always do this to myself (and you all). THIS is probably the one:

[quote="Mags"].
do you know why it matters?

Short answer is "No."

My assumption is that it has to do with construction and engineered-in ability to withstand recoil forces in centerfire vs. rimfire.

How'd I do?
